HOW TO MANAGE REMOTE TEAMS FOR PROJECT SUCCESS

Remote jobs are growing rapidly in the world of work today. It is very common to work with a team that would not be on-field on a project. As a dynamic Project Manager you need the skill to manage your both your remote and on-field team if you want to achieve success in your project.

Here are some ways to achieve that.

  1. Foster Connection and Growth

Build relationships beyond tasks and offer upskilling opportunities so your team feels supported and valued. When there is bonding in the team, there is more progress as compared to a team that feels like they are working with strangers.

2. Increase Visibility

Use regular updates and dashboards to track progress — keeping things transparent. Have a check-in process which ensures that you are always up to date with whatever task is going on. Do not leave things to chance and assume that they are being worked on. Let team mates on-field know what their mates who are working remotely are doing and their progress so far. This would also avoid repetition of tasks.

3. Reset Expectations with Clarity and Purpose

Revisit team goals, align them with the bigger picture and ensure everyone knows what success looks like in their role.

4. Encourage open communication

Encourage open communication and collaboration through digital tools to foster a sense of community and shared purpose.
