HOW DO YOU KEEP TEAM MORALE HIGH?

The magic in productivity is all dependent on your team – the individuals working on the project to ensure its success. One important factor that can cause a project to succeed or fail is the morale of your team. When your team morale is high, you are very likely to achieve productivity. However, when your team morale is down, barely any progress can be made.

As a project manager, you mush always ensure that there is high team spirit and your team is always in a good mood to work and produce results. How do you achieve this?

  1. Appreciate team effort

A project cannot be finished in a day. Neither can you be rest assured that your project will follow the timelines you have drawn for it. You must understand that there are days that the team might not meet its goals or target. But small work done is better than no work done at all. Appreciate the little progress the team has achieved. Don’t ignore what has been done and focus on what is left to be done. When you appreciate them for the small tasks, they will be willing to get the bigger tasks done

2. Encourage them

Encourage your team. However, know when and what to encourage. Encourage hard work and positive attributes. Do not encourage consistent negative attitudes such as idleness, laziness and unproductivity. This means that you need to be keen on each team member to know if they are working hard but not producing the expected results, or if their input is really reflective of their output.

3. Offer support and resources

Ensure your team has access to the tools and assistance they need to succeed. Sometimes the problem is not from the team. Sometimes you just have to ensure you give them the needed resources to help boost their work. It is frustrating to work with little or no resources. Also, don’t just sit back as a leader and watch your team work the whole day. Get involved in any little way you can. When you support them, they are more motivated to work.

4. Encourage regular breaks

Promote short, frequent breaks to help prevent burnout and maintain focus. Remember that if your team is stressed out, productivity reduces. Breaks are not evil, ensure you give your team as much time to relax and cool off as possible.
